Due to the withdrawal of the United Kingdom (Brexit) from the European Union in 2021, the UK has its own regulations for, among other things, importing pressure equipment (PS >0,5 Bar, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, air-cooled coolers). In the future, pressure equipment and systems must comply with ‘The Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016’, (PER 2016) directive 2016 No. 1105 and after implementation, the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU) shall no longer be followed.
In the past period, I have worked at a client (Pressure Equipment Manufacturer) on the certification of the organization for the PER 2016 Module H & H1. My work and activities consisted of drawing up the work-instructions, drawing up standard-documents and training the key figures of the organization. Last week, the customer’s system was audited by an UK-Approved Body with good results, and is now certified according to plan.
This equipment manufacturer is now already able to comply with the PER 2016 and can supply equipment under module H & H1 to the UK. The CE marking has been replaced by the UKCA marking upon delivery to the UK. Make sure your organization switches in a timely manner and doesn’t get into trouble or has any restrictions on supplying equipment to the UK.
